called the GT. We expected BMW to debut the front drive 1er in Paris, but instead it is debuting a concept called the Concept Active Tourer that previews the planned car.

The styling of the car combines a low, aggressive nose with a relatively large greenhouse. It is a surprisingly attractive combination. BMW has painted the concept in High Reflection Silver that makes it stick out even more. The front is short with a front titled grill with short overhangs. However, the roof is high, and the concept has high doors.

The interior of concepts is generally the portion that is least likely to make it into the production version, and the Active Tourer is no different. The dashboard is made from a single piece of milled wood, and the seats and surfaces are made from light-colored, full grain leather. It also features a color head-up display. The rest of the instruments are displayed on a 10.25in LED display. One element that might make it to the production version is the panoramic sunroof that can darken at the press of a button.

The Concept Active Tourer uses a transversely mounted 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with a hybrid drive. The plug-in hybrid drive is basically the same unit as in the i-series cars but with a smaller battery pack. It provides a 30km pure electric range. The turbocharged three cylinder engine produces 190hp on its own, and this is something that BMW has confirmed will find its way into future production cars. It accelerates to 100km/h in eight seconds and has a maximum speed of 200km/h. With the hybrid, it uses 2.5l100km of petrol and emits 60g/km of CO2.

The Concept Active Tourer will be on display at the Paris Motor Show on September 27.

So while Mercedes is making is A-Class looks like a serie 1 (regular car), BMW is busy to make a version that looks like a former A-Class...

I hate to say it, but it kind of looks like the three-door Hyundai i30 revealed today.

Globalization ;-) The same tastes all around the world, and take as little risk as possible in terms of design ;-) Nevertheless the design of the Koreans is impressing me lately. A lot of progress.
