. Now the Czech brand has decided to reveal the first information about the range of engines that will equip the compact model.

With the new generation Fabia, Skoda bets on efficiency and reduction of CO2 emissions. The range of the new model at launch will be composed of four petrol and three diesel engines. All of them will comply with EU6 emission standards.

The range of petrol engines includes three-and four-cylinder engines. 1.0 MPI engines have three cylinders and indirect injection, while four-cylinder turbo 1.2 TSI versions have stratified injection. The power ranges from 60 to 110hp.

Diesel engines include three versions of the same 1.4 three-cylinder turbocharged engine turbocharged with direct injection. The power varies between 74 and 103hp. The new Skoda Fabia will be combined with a manual gearbox or a DSG dual clutch transmission.

Skoda also announced the launch of a new Greenline version atthe end of 2015 that will be based on the 75hp 1.4 liter diesel engine. According to the Czech brand the new version will have an average fuel consumption of 3.1l/100km and will produce 82g/km of CO2 emissions. In general Skoda says the new Fabia range will be 17% more efficient than the current generation.

Design

Less than a month ago Skoda had already revealed the first sketch of the new Fabia generation. This image continues to be, so far, the only official one available.

Many of the design features of the new Fabia are inspired by the new OctaviaOctavia (Modern)Skoda Octavia (Modern)Czech Rep., 1996 > present3 series

With regard to dimensions, the Fabia will maintain its sub-compact dimensions despite an increase in width in order to maximize the interior space. With a 30mm lower height Skoda will try to introduce in the model a more athletic stance to attract younger buyers.

The new Skoda Fabia will lose the vRS version due to weak sales in the current generation. Furthermore an all-wheel version has also been ruled out. However not to leave an empty space on the range, SkodaSkodaSkodaCzech Rep., 1895 > present57 models

will introduce sportier versions with the Monte Carlo editions, a line that is already established in other models of the brand.
