Citroën has two variants of the Puretech engines ready to put into its cars. The 1.0-liter version has 68hp, and the 1.2-liter version has 82hp. Citroën says that future versions of the Puretech engines will have about 67hp per liter.
Citroën claims that the Puretech engines uses 4.3l/100km and 4.6l/100km in the combined cycle and 99g/km of CO2 and 107g/km of CO2 for the 1.0-liter and 1.2-liter respectively. It claims that these figures are a 25% improvement over the engines that they will replace. They also weigh around 20% less than the engines that they will replace.
Not only are these engines cleaner, the cars will be faster than the their predescessors. The 1.0-liter Puretech has 10hp more than the 1.1-liter that it will replace. Plus, top speed is up 8km/h and acceleration to 100km/h is 2.3 seconds faster. Fuel consumption is a 1.6l/100km (27%) improvement and emissions are 38g/km of CO2 lower at 99g/km of CO2.
The 1.2-liter Puretech has 9hp more than the 1.4-liter that it will replace. Top speed is up 11km/h, accleration to 100km/h is 1.9 seconds lower; fuel consumption is 1.5l/100km lower (25% better), and emissions are 35g/km of CO2 lower at 104g/km of CO2.
