Mary Barra, GM head of global product development and a Stanford graduate, announced the partnership while speaking at the Stanford School of Engineering.

“Joining the Center for Automotive Research at Stanford is a natural fit for GM. In order to create the world’s best vehicles, we make every effort to remain on the cutting edge of automotive development. Our membership in CARS will allow us both to expand and share our knowledge with students, faculty and industry partners as we work together to move the industry forward," said Barra.

The Center for Automotive Research develops next generation automotive technology and teaches next generation of automotive engineers and businesspeople.

GM's partnership with the center will allow it to recruit students and contribute to the education of future professionals in the automotive industry.
