Toyota Rav4 (Japan, 1994-present)

The RAV4 EV history goes back to 1994, when Toyota introduced the first-generation based on the Corolla platform. Three years later, Toyota launched the RAV4 EV powered by a nickel-metal hydride battery pack. Between 1998 and 2003 Toyota managed to sell or lease 1,484 Rav4 EVs in the US, becoming the first manufacturer to meet the mandate’s Memo of Agreement on volume sales. The second generation came in 2000 and five years later the third generation was launched. This crossover SUV is available with 2 or 4 doors.
