With five meters long, 1930mm wide and a wheelbase of 3001mm, the concept will give life to a new model thought for the Chinese market. There is still no name for the production version of the concept.

. The new model will be created completely from scratch and will be based on the MLB modular platform.

The C Coupé GTE also serves to show the design to be adopted by future Volkswagen premium models. The new image will be used in global models, such as the new Phaeton.

The new design image presented by Volkswagen keeps the historical horizontal lines of the models of the German brand. However at the front the blades of the grille extend all across the width of the vehicle giving a wider appearance to the vehicle. Along the bonnet and side the design team also added more sharp lines that give the vehicle a more dynamic look.

The front-drive concept is equipped with a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 210hp four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor with a combined output of 245hp and 500Nm of torque.

The battery allows the vehicle to drive on electricity over 50km (E-mode) with a speed limit of 130km/h. In hybrid mode the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 8.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 232km/h. The announced vehicle average consumption is 2,3l/100km, with CO2 emissions of 55g/km.

The C Coupé GTE can be driven in four different ways: E-mode (electric), Hybrid, GTE (a sportier mode) and Battery Charge/Battery Hold (keeps same charge level or recharges the battery).
