A completely new Polo was launched in autumn 2001. This Polo had a new face with its large round headlights and additional round lights. The new model also grew , it was considerably longer, wider and taller and had a longer wheelbase than the previous model. This model, which was available with two and four doors from launch, offered a new engine range including a direct injection petrol engine and two TDIs.
The Polo Fun introduced in autumn 2003 followed new ideas with increased ground clearance, large alloy wheels and extraordinary colour designs.
By 2005, over 8.7 million models had been produced.
