In 2010 Volkswagen premiered in Leipzig the second generation of its MPV, the Touran. After 1.13 million units of the first series were sold, the Touran appeared with an updated look, following Volkswagen’s “design DNA”.

The 2010 Touran offers a range of eight engines. With an output between 90 PS and 170 PS all the eight engines follow the Volkswagen downsizing principle, offering less engine displacement, lower emissions, lower fuel consumption at more torque. The second Touran generation offers three different petrol engines. The entry-level is the 1.2 TSI, a turbocharged direct-injection engine with 105 PS. With a maximum torque of 175 Newton-metres it consumes 6.4 l/100 km fuel in the combined cycle, with 149 g/km of CO2 emissions. This engine is also available with BlueMotion Technology lowering combined fuel consumption and CO2 emissions to 5.9 l/100 km and 139 g/km, respectively.

In terms of design the body of the Touran was almost completely restyled. This generation model had its bumper, radiator grille, engine bonnet, wings and headlights adapted to the Volkswagen “design DNA”. At the rear, the MPV’s lights are the main new feature. For the first time they have been designed in two-part modules, extending from the wing into the tailgate.
