Volvo XC70 (Sweden, 1997-present)

The XC70 first started back in 1998 as a trim level of the V70. It became a model in 1999, but at that time named V70 Cross Country. The next year saw its name change to XC70, with the "X" standing for "Cross," and "C" standing for "Country." The "70" was taken from the original V70 model to reflect its roots. At the time the XC70 was based on the P2 platform.
