about this car
Debuted at the French Grand Prix at Reims in 1954, the Mercedes-Benz W196 is one of the most famous racing cars ever taking home the prize for 9 out of 12 races. The car was very innovative in certain aspects such as in the engine design with a valve system that used a positive control of the valve operation without valve springs.
The Mercedes-Benz W196 GP was the car that led Fangio into two consecutive World Championships in Formula One, 1954 and 1955.
