In 2010 Jaguar presented an armoured version of the XJ luxury sports saloon. The XJ Sentinel is virtually indistinguishable from the standard XJ model. Nevertheless it is equipped with an armouring package which gives its passengers up to B7 levels of ballistic protection.
While developing the XJ Sentinel, Jaguar engineers focused on ensuring that it kept the usability of the standard car. The Sentinel is based on the long wheelbase XJ and it maintains that model’s luxury interior package, comfort and agility.
The XJ Sentinel is fitted with a .0-litre 385PS AJ-V8 Gen III naturally aspirated direct-injection V8 petrol engine, which is matted with a six-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain gives the XJ Sentinel the ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds and to reach a top speed of 195 km/h.
