The Yamaha Group already exists since 1887, but it wasn't until 1955 that the Yamaha Motor Co. was created. The company was dedicated to the production of motorcycles, so it has a very brief history in automobile production. After building engines for cars, most notably the Ford Taurus SHO, Yamaha decided to make a change and start building an automobile. In 1991, the company developed the OX99-11 supercar. However, due to the financial crisis that hit Japan and lack of interest, the project was abandoned.
