Founded in 1965 Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH is an automobile manufacturing company that produces vehicles based on BMW cars. The brand has its headquarters in Buchloe, in the Ostallgäu district of Bavaria, Germany.
Although it started as a BMW tuning business, Alpina is since 1983 officially registered as an automobile manufacturer by the German Ministry of Transport, the Kraftfahrtbundesamt.
