At this year's North American International Auto Show Audi unveiled the new sportiest member of the Q5. The new hot SUV SQ5 is powered by 3.0 TSFI engine which puts it sprinting up to 100km/h in 5.4 seconds.
3.0 TFSI engine
The Audi SQ5 is powered by a 2995cc V6 petrol engine with 354hp of output and 500Nm of torque. This output allows the turbocharged, aluminum engine to reach a top speed of 250km/h and accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 5.4 seconds.
A new combustion process has increased the SUV's efficiency, allowing a combined consumption of 8.3 l/100km and CO2 emissions of 189g/km. The SQ5 engine has been coupled to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission.
Dimensions and Wheight
The new Audi SQ5 is 4671mm long, 1893 mm wide and 1635 mm tall. The wheelbase is 2824mm long. Audi has managed to reduce the SQ5 curb weight to 1995kg, which is 35kg less
than its predecessor. This was possible thanks to the use of a combination of aluminum and high-tensile-strength steels, as well as the new lighter engine.
Design
In terms of design the new SQ5 the hot SUV gets S-specific updates including sporty bumpers up front and in the rear are complemented by more strongly contoured air inlets, diffuser with a honeycomb grille, radiator grille with double aluminum slats and the S badge.
On the sides the SUV can be identified by its aluminum-look exterior mirrors and door trim strips in the body color, while at the back it gets specific twin exhaust tailpipes and an aluminum diffuser clasp.
Inside Audi has created a dark-toned cabin which invites passengers and driver in with illuminated door sills with S logos. The sports seats and steering wheel get contrasting stitching. The shift paddles get an aluminium look, while the pedals and footrest are convered in stainless steel.
