One of the biggest and most important auto shows in the world is opening today the doors to the public. After two days of press conferences and presentation of the brand’s new models to the journalists, the 80th Geneva Motor Show officially opens today to the public until the 14th of March.
Almost 70.000 people should come to the Palexpo during the 10 day show, with the public being able to take a look at more than 700 car models shown by almost 250 exhibitors. At this year Geneva Motor Show there will also be 140 world and European premiers.
Many hybrid and electric vehicles will see the first rays of light at Geneva such as the BMW ActiveHybrid 8, Audi’s A1 e-tron or the A8 Hybrid, Seat’s IBE concept and the Mercedes F 800 Style. And even the supercar brands such as Porsche, Ferrari and Lotus don’t run from the green wave that has been around car manufacturers.
Geneva is also the stage of premieres of new vehicles coming soon to the markets. Volkswagen’s CrossPolo, CrossGolf and Sharan, together with Alfa Romeo’s Giulietta, Volvo’s S60 or Nissan’s new generation of Micra, are some of the vehicles that will be running soon in the streets and that have their official presentations at the 80th edition of the Swiss motor show.
Although the car market hasn’t yet got out of the crisis, the major brands don’t seem to be thinking of costs to show off their stands and their new cars. For example Audi hired popstar Justin Timberlake to present their latest A1 model.
