Ford vs. Chevy and Ferrari vs. Lamborghini are fights for the ages. Everyone has a side to defend, but what about Batmobile vs. Batmobile. Specifically the 1966 Batmobile from the American TV show Batman starring Adam West and Burt Ward versus the 1989 Tim Burton movie Batman starring Michael Keaton. Gaming web site Machinima.com got replicas of these two cars together and put them head-to-head in a drag race.
The 1989 Batmobile uses a Camaro front end with a 350in³ small block Chevy motor with about 285hp. The Machinima expert claims that it will do a quarter mile in about 11 seconds. The rest of the chassis is custom, and it has a rear air suspension.
This specific 1966 Batmobile uses a C4 Corvette platform with a fuel-injected Chevrolet L98 V8 with about 300hp. The expert thinks it will do the quarter mile in 10 seconds.
The actual 1966 Batmobile used in the TV series has an interesting history. It was built by famous movie car builder George Barris out of a modified 1955 Lincoln Futura Concept Car with a Ford Galaxie 390in³ V8 and transmission.
If you want to just see the specs of the cars fast forward to 5 minutes into the video. If you just want to see the drag race fast forward 7:30 into the video.
The cars are evenly matched, and the finish is very close.
