will take a 5% non-voting stake in Aston Martin.

Aston Martin says that its engineers will work with AMG to create bespoke V8 engines based on AMG's architecture.

The deal with AMG has been in the works since Investindustrial bought a portion of the British sports car company. Investindustrial had ties with AMG since working with them when Investindustrial owned Ducati, and the good probability of a linkup was part of the reason that Aston Martin took the investment.

The deal also makes it possible that Aston Martin could use Mercedes-Benz components in the future.

“Working with Mercedes-AMG in this way while, of course, remaining independent and preserving the unique character and style of Aston Martin that has been the mainstay of the company throughout its 100-year history, points to a very bright future for the company as it starts its second century in business," said Aston Martin Product Development Director Ian Minards.
