Breaking: Opel/Vauxhall Ampera is Europe's Car of the Year

Opel Ampera is Europe's Car of the Year

It has just been announced that the Vauxhall/Opel Ampera has been voted Car of the Year in Europe.

The nominees for the award were the Citroen DS5, Fiat Panda, Ford Focus, Opel/Vauxhall Ampera, Range Rover Evoque, Toyota Yaris and Volkswagen Up. There is a 59 member jury from various automotive publications who vote for the Car of the Year award. It will eventually reveal the voting for each car nominated to reveal how many points each received, but it has not done so yet.

The award is given out by an international group of European automotive magazines that comprises: Auto, Autocar, Autopista, Autovisie, L'Automobile, Stern and ViBilagare.

Last year's winner was the Nissan Leaf, and the Volkswagen Polo won in 2010.
