Chevrolet Donating 50 Trucks for Hurricane Relief

The vehicles include Silverado pickups and Express vans

Hurricane Sandy is estimated to have done $10 billion to $20 billion in damage and that is without knowing the extent to the damage to the New York Subway System or whether more damage will be done as the storm moves north. Over 8 million people are without power along the East coast and as of October 30, 39 people are confirmed dead. ChevroletChevroletChevroletUnited States of America, 1911 > present82 models

OnStar is providing each vehicle 300 free calling minutes and three months of its turn-by-turn navigation service.

GM is also donating $250,000 to the Red Cross Disaster Responder Program that will be used for shelter, food and provide blood.

“The impact of Hurricane Sandy is being assessed up and down the East Coast and even further west, and the road to recovery will be long for many families. GM’s generous donation of vehicles and the GM Foundation’s donation of finances will help the American Red Cross to respond with shelter, food and care, aiding affected residents now and after the storm, as they move toward recovery,” said Neal Litvack, Chief Development Officer of the American Red Cross.

The vehicles are coming from dealerships near the affected areas.
