Chevrolet launches contest to name the colour of the Volt

Chevrolet has picked the official paint colour for its Volt E-REV model, which is an all silver exterior with an emerald tone, and is now launching a contest for the public to decide which will be the name of that prominent new colour. Originality, creativity and capturing the Volt’s innovation spirit are the criteria in which Chevrolet will base the election of three finalists to this online challenge. The finalists will be awarded with a trip to Los Angeles in December in order to compete for the final prize and be given the chance to be one of the first persons to test-drive a pre-production Chevrolet Volt.

The winning colour name for the Volt will be announced on the 1^st of December and, alongside the mentioned test-drive, the winner will be given a two-night standard accommodation at a hotel, plus a 400-dollar gift card and permission to enter the December 2^nd 2009 LA Auto Show.

About the online contest, Chevrolet’s director of global marketing operations Maria Rohrer said that they “want to invite consumers into the development process of the Chevy Volt and give people an opportunity to be part of our program”. The production Chevrolet Volt is expected to start being manufactured in large scale by the late months of 2010.
