There have been some trials, literally, and tribulations in the course of building the Circuit of the Americas near Austin, Texas, but it looks like things are finally on track for the circuit to be done by August for the first Formula 1 race there on November 18.
Construction stopped last year when there was a contract dispute between the track's owners and race promoters. While the Formula 1 race is still on as of right now, the plans to host a MotoGP race and Australian V8 Supercars race have not yet solidified.
The Circuit of the Americas has cost about $330 million to build, and the track's owners are hoping for 120,000 people to attend the first Formula 1 race held there. The owners are hoping for good attendance because there is $25 million from the local government contingent tax revenue from attendees.
"The race is on. Construction is happening six days a week. The paddock buildings are being topped off, work on the main grandstand has started and we are looking at mid-August for completion," said Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Geoff Moore to Autosport.
