Force India has unveiled the new VJM10 at Silverstone, the team's car for the 2017 Formula 1 season. Design changes have been made to adapt to the new season regulations. Step down on the nose has been a surprise design cue compared to other cars shown so far.
Design options on the new VJM10
The
VJM10 is the 10th Formula One car that has been developed by the
Indian team under the command of Vijay Mallya. In terms of design the new car features the same thumb-tip nose and shark fin. Front and rear wings have also suffered a lot of modifications due to the new aero regulations.
Different from the remaining cars unveiled so far is the steep drop on the nose which was introduced to exploit a restrictive area of the rules and a result of the team's suspension design.
2017 Force India drivers lineup
Force India will be counting once again with Sergio Perez behind the wheel of the
VJM10. However the Mexican driver will have a new team mate, former Manor driver Esteban Ocon who will be replacing Nico Hulkenberg that signed with
Renault.
In 2016
Force India enjoyed its best season ever in the Formula One World Championship. It finished in fourth position in the Constructors standings with 173, ahead of historic teams such as
Williams and
McLaren.
