Facebook fans name Mayhem to the new Mustang Performance Pack

With 1.4 million Facebook fans, it’s hard to call the Ford Mustang an unpopular car. So, when it came to naming the Mustang V6 Performance Pack, the guys in Dearborn decided to utilise this popularity by opening up the floor to Facebookers’ suggestions.

More than 6,700 downloaded the ‘You Name It’ app to participate, whilst 3,000 submissions were made to the Mustang’s Facebook page. Users could also vote on their favourite names; with the five most popular proceeding to the next stage, where Ford selected the moniker that best represented all the ‘fun, fast & affordable’ package has to offer.

The winning suggestion – ‘Mayhem Mustang Package’ – came from a so far unnamed Facebooker based in Charlotte, New Carolina, USA whose naming talents have won them a free three-year lease of the car they named, a 2012 Mustang Mayhem.

The package itself consists of a multitude of changes to enhance the handling of Ford’s base-spec pony car, including a shorter rear axle ratio, unique 19-inch wheels and the rear lower control arm of a Shelby GT500.

Pirelli performance tyres and Performance Friction brake pads improve grip and braking over the standard car, whilst the recalibrated ESC offers a sport mode to better allow the driver to utilise all 305bhp from the 3.7-litre aluminium V6. ‘Mayhem’ badges prevail inside and out and the car is on sale imminently.

That's not really mayhem. "Better brakes and tires mean more crazy!" NO, more power means mayhem. I hate it.

Probably fans of "Fight Club", I agree it's a poor choice. They should have gone with some more in keeping with Mustang history like the "Pony Package."

Ha! The people that like these new Mustangs are a new generartion. I bet that you ask a 22 year old when the original Mustang arrived he'd say 1994.
