Ferrari thinks it needs to be a cleaner, greener car company. Whether or not that it is true, expect the next generation Enzo-successor to use a V12 with an electric motor mounted on the front axle to boost power.
Ferrari has already experimented with a Ferrari 599GTB with an electric motor with 100hp and 110lb-ft of torque mounted on the front axle that could boost power or run on its own.
“Our hybrid system won’t be just about creating power, but saving energy, too. I’m not saying when, but it is possible that this technology will be on all Ferraris. It has been designed to fit all our future architecture, and if we go ahead it will be fitted as standard,” said Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa.
A drop down to six-cylinders is also still possible.
"Even in the US, where until a few years ago eight cylinders was the minimum, it is clear that attitudes have changed. We have to think in that direction,“ said Felisa.
