Dan Wheldon's death last week at the Las Vegas Speedway was a tragedy, as is the death of any racer. He was certainly a very accomplished driver, and he will be missed. The shockwaves of his death are reverberating through auto racing. The FIA is now working with Indycar to investigate the causes of that crash.
Indycar plans to release an initial report about the cause behind the crash in the next few weeks. It has also canceled a testing session by Chip Ganassi Racing that would have taken place at the Las Vegas Speedway.
There will be a memorial service for Wheldon at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, on October 23.
