The FIA is strengthening the ECU rules in Formula 1 to definitively get rid of blown exhausts.
The FIA wants to totally remove exhaust blown aerodynamics from Formula 1. It changed the rules earlier in the year to mandate a certain, general exhaust style and it imposed stricter ECU rules that would keep the exhaust from having an aerodynamic effect even when the exhaust is closed.
The FIA has learned that the rules might not have gone far enough, and through a larger throttle size, teams could still get an aerodynamic effect from the exhaust. It is also issuing an update for the ECU software to mitigate things even more.
