was the undisputed star of the North American International Auto Show. The cars will not be on sale to the public until the third quarter of 2013, but a member of the Digital Corvettes forum has already spotted what must be the first wrecked 2014 Corvette. It turns out that a Corvette test driver wrecked the car.
The poster who has the username Gpetry says this in his post: "Got this picture e-mailed from a friend in Arizona last week with the following description:
'Driving through some mountains in Arizona about 30 minutes ago. In some tight switchbacks when we passed this '14 Vette. Cop had just arrived. Car is in worse shape than looks. Hit guardrail on left and bounced back to rocks.'"
Further research shows that Chevrolet had three Corvettes testing in Arizona. They were spotted in a YouTube video that you can see below. If you look closely at the blue car in the picture and the video, they have the same license plate.
Chevrolet responded about the crash saying: "We can confirm that during routine testing, a Stingray was involved in a one-car accident. During evaluation, due to driver error the inside tire caught the edge of the pavement during a tight corner, leading to the accident. Thankfully, no one was hurt, the car received only minor damage, and no citations were issued."
It can never be a good day as a test driver when you crash the car that you are testing.
