late last year, but it has finally unveiled the car's specs. The Explorer Sport is powered by a 365hp version of its 3.5-liter turbocharged Ecoboost V6. “Explorer Sport hits a sweet-spot combination of power, usable torque, 4WD capability, with class-leading fuel efficiency. The Explorer Sport EcoBoost engine matches Taurus SHO for output and the Terrain Management System has been specifically calibrated to optimize increased power – regardless of the road or conditions," said Bill Gubing, chief engineer for the Explorer. 

Ford has packed the Explorer Sport with extra features on top of the more powerful engine. The truck uses a six-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddles. Ford reinforced the chassis and steering rack. The truck comes with larger brakes, which Ford says has improved pedal feel. It also has a Terrain Management System is tuned for driving in specific situations like sand, snow, mud and hill descents. 


To set the car off from the outside it has 20in wheels, blacked-out headlights and taillights, black roof rails and side mirrors and a black grill with grey mesh and high-gloss black bars. It also has a lower front fascia with larger openings to feed the turbo. The car is available in Ruby Red Metallic Clearcoat, White Platinum Metallic Tri-Coat, Tuxedo Black Metallic and Ingot Silver Metallic

Inside buyers get either two-tone leather with black trim or all black leather. The trim is matches the two-tone seats. The inside also has dual-zone climate control, 10-way power driver seats, six-way power passenger seat, front heated seats, Ford SYNC and rearview camera. 

It is available with optional blind spot alert, cooled seats, folding exterior mirrors, remote start and dual-pane moon roof. 

The Explorer Sport goes on sale in the fall, but Ford has not announced a price yet.
