, the American brand has brought back the GT350 with the most powerful aspirated engine in its history.

No official performance data about the new Mustang Shelby GT350Mustang Shelby GT350Ford Mustang Shelby GT350United States of America, 2015 > present has been revealed, but we know it will have a power above 500 hp and a torque above 542Nm. The 5.2 liter V8 engine was paired with a manual six-speed gearbox.

Advertised as model year 2016, the new Shelby GT350 should be officially unveiled in January at the Detroit Motor Show (NAIAS), as the big star of the brand.

When proposing to bring back the GT350, Ford set that a V8 naturally aspirated engine with high rev would be the best option for a Mustang focused on the tracks.

"The final product is a completely new and unique GT350 engine, which leverages the dynamics of the new chassis of the car," said Jamal Hameedi, chief engineer of Global Performance Vehicles.

One major change in the GT350 compared to the Mustang is the front hood made of aluminum that surrounds the engine. This area was lowered and inclined in order to improve the aerodynamics. The aluminum fenders were redesigned to accommodate the wider front axle and wider wheel arches.

The interior was designed with Recaro sports seats and a flat bottom steering wheel which makes it easier to enter and exit the car.

"Everything changed in the GT350 is purely functional design, with the goal of improving the overall performance of the car," said Chris Svensson, Design Director of Ford. “We optimized the aero shape of the car, and then fine-tuned what was left to increase downforce and cooling airflow.”
