FR-S brings

We have already shown you the Toyota GT 86 and the Subaru BRZ, but we are still missing the Scion FR-S, the compact rear-wheel drive high-performance coupe, unveiled by the American brand in Los Angeles. The new model will go on sale in the spring of 2012.

According to Scion, the FR-S name stands for Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport and this is expected to express the brand’s definition of an authentic rear-wheel-drive sports car with balanced performance and handling, attractive design, flexible utility and surprising fuel consumption.

The FR-S has been inspired on the AE86 generation of the Corolla and while developing it engineers and designers have worked on the goal of achieving “Pure Balance”. This is achieved with the use of the world’s only flat boxer engine in a front-engine, rear-wheel drive configuration.

The 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine featured on the FR-S was developed together with Toyota and Subaru. It all starts by bringing together Subaru’s newly developed horizontally opposed engine and Toyota’s D-4S injection system that incorporates both direct and port injection.

With a 200hp of output and 205Nm of torque the flat-four can be combined with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.

Through the lightweight design and compact size of the FR-S, Scion also manages to achieve the idea of “Pure Balance”. This allows the sports coupe to be quick and nimble into and out of corners, with dynamic maneuverability and confident handling.

They should help save paper, and on the brochure they should write up: 'See Toyota GT-86 brochure'.

Hahahaha. I get it, but how would that save paper if you needed a brochure anyway? :P Subaru BRZ: Toyota's GT86 evil twin.

Who would actually be evil, the Scion, the Subie, or the Toyota? I would say the Scion since it looks the worst. Wait, they look the same!

This is one weird sh*t marketing/sales strategy... do not understand. We'll choose based upon the brand only? Since the cars are one and only. Is this a race for the to see who, with the same car, sel...

Toyota will win that race. I mean Toyota owns Scion so wouldn't those sales add up?

Maybe not. Maybe Toyota just wants to fine tune their organisation...?

Don't know where this is coming from Vetteman. Maybe they had a bunch of recall lately, but do not forget that most of the automotive industry follows a lot of the Toyota principles. Since the 70's, T...

I know, I remember the good ol' days with Supra and Celicas, but that was the old Toyota. I'm sure most of the guys that thought of those Ideas work elsewhere.
