launched the Scion brand in California in 2003 and launched it across the US in 2004 with high hopes. The brand was meant to appeal to young buyers with inexpensive, highly styled cars. To keep costs down, they would use existing Toyota engines and platforms but with unique bodies. The shared parts and platforms would also mean that the cars would be replaced every three years. That worked for a single generation, and with the introduction of the second generation Scions, Toyota began to ignore the brand.
Toyota seems to be taking the first steps towards reviving the ailing brand. It introduced the Scion FR-SScion FR-S Gen.1, 2011 > present7 versions
