General Motors Creates First Front-Middle Airbag to Protect in Side-Impact Accidents

Airbags undoubtedly save lives, and their development have done a lot ot make driving safer. Despite side curtain airbags, side-impact crashes are still dangerous, especially when there are passengers who can collide during an accident.

General Motors has been working to make these impacts safers by developing the first front-center mounted airbag to cushion front passenger impact in a side-on accident. The airbag is mounted on the right side of the driver's seat.

The new airbag was designed with Takata to fit in the Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse and will appear in these vehicles next year in the US.
