Hamilton takes third win of the season

Lewis Hamilton took the win at this Sunday's Belgian GP, his third victory of the 2010 F1 season. The Brit took the command of the race right on the first lap never to give it away until he passed the checkered flag. The McLaren Mercedes driver came through ahead of Mark Webber and Robert Kubica.

At the start of the race it went wrong for Webber as a slow start saw him go down the order into sixth place. The two McLarens took the lead ahead of Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel and Robert Kubica.

On his 300th grand prix Rubens Barrichello wasn't very fortunate as he failed braking on one of the first turns of the race and collided with Fernando Alonso. The Brazilian was forced out of the race but Alonso continued his contention until he lost the control of his car because of the wet track, close to the end.

Vettel had another unfortunate race which handled him 15th place at the end of the 44 laps at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. First he didn't manage to control his RB6 as he was trying to overtake Jenson Button. He ended up touching the McLaren which kicked out Button from the race. Vettel had to go to the pits to change the nose of his RB6 and still received a penalty pit stop drivethrough because of the incident with Button. He was definitely out of contention by then.

Until the end of the race Webber went on recovering places in another strong and solid performance. The Aussie got to runner-up spot on the pits as almost every one in the field changed tyres with only four laps to go due to heavy rain. Red Bull's performance was best than Renault's a the pit and Webber got ahead of Kubica, leaving the Pole on the lowest spot of the podium.

Felipe Massa and Sutil made a solid performance away from any incidents coming home in fourth and fifth respectively. The Mercedes' came next with Rosberg nailing sixth spot as he elbowed Michael Schumacher aside at Les Combes with three laps to go, finishing ahead of his team-mate.

Top ten was completed by Kamui Kobayashi (Sauber), Vitaly Petrov (Renault) and Jaime Alguersuari (Toro Rosso).

From the five top contenders to the world title only Hamilton and Webber were able to produce the same performance which they have been showing throughout the season. With their first and second positions in Spa they extend their lead over the other contenders. Hamilton now leads with 182 points, three more than Webber. Red Bull's Vettel is third already with a 31 point drift over Hamilton, with Button lying fourth with four points less. Alonso is fifth with 141 points.

As for the Manufacturers' Championship, Red Bull leads with 330 points, one more than McLaren, with Ferrari lying third.
