, and the 1.6-liter diesel engine. It is the largest investment that Honda has made in the UK in over 10 years. The investment will double the factory's production compared to 2011. It will also add 500 new employees to the factory.

Next year production will double to 183,000 units, and Honda plans to increase volume from the factory to 250,000 cars a year within the next three years. The factory exports 60% of its product outside of the UK.

"This investment program underpins Honda's commitment to manufacturing in Britain and to our UK workforce. It also reaffirms the Swindon plant's position as the cornerstone of Honda's European operations, as it has been for over 20 years," said Honda Director UK Dave Hodgetts.
