Lexus will present at this year's Geneva Motor Show a hybrid version of the new
LC sports car. The
LC500h is a front engine and rear-wheel drive vehicle and, according to Lexus, is the next stage of evolution of the brand.
The new Lexus hybrid sports car is equipped with the Multi Stage Hybrid system, whose full details are still unknown, but combines a 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine, mated to a four-speed gearbox, and an electric motor with a CVT transmission, which together make up an output of 359hp. This will allow the LC500h to reache 100km/h in less than five seconds. The vehicle can be driven in automatic or manual transmission mode.
The LC500h is the second version of the LC to be presentes. The first was the
LC500 which had its debut earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS). The vehicle is 4760mm long, 1920mm wide and 1345mm high. The wheelbase is set at 2870mm.
Despite the new technology that equips the LC500h, Lexus says that the Multi Stage Hybrid system is not heavier than the one used in other models of the brand thanks to the use of new lightweight electric motor and lithium-ion batteries. Other features which allow to reduce the weight of the vehicle include the use of aluminum in the bonnet and the wings, which are mounted in a carbon fiber structure.
Inside Lexus gave LC500h a cabin focused on the driver and inspired by the LFA. Thus the main controls are placed around the driver, whose seat is set in a low position and the most central possible.
The date of the arrival of the Lexus LC to the market is not yet confirmed, but orders should open later this year for the LC500 and LC500h.
