"The purpose of the meetings is to investigate what measures we can offer and what sort of commitments we can receive in turn from the company," said Monti.
Details as to what exactly the Italian government will do have not yet been revealed. However, the plan is for the government to find ways to improve Fiat's manufacturing efficiency, and in return Fiat will keep factories open in Italy and export more cars.
The agreement means that idled Fiat plants will begin producing cars next year. There are already plans to produce JeepsJeepUnited States of America, 1941 > present33 models
