taking a win in its class in the Monaco Historique last weekend. This year is the Jaguar is celebrating the 60th anniversary of entering a C-Type in the Mille Miglia equipped with disc brakes. Disc brakes existed before the C-Type, most notably on the Chrysler 1950 Crown Imperial, however the discs used on the Jaguar were the first of a caliper-type like are commonplace today.

The original car was driven by Sir Stirling Moss and Jaguar engineer Norman Dewis. These two men who are now 82 and 91 years old, respectively, will drive the car again this year in the Mille Miglia. The chassis 005 that they will be driving was also raced by Moss later in 1952 at a sports car race in Reims and took the first ever win by a car with disc brakes.

Jaguar Heritage Racing is entering two other C-Types. Chassis 018 was owned by Juan Manuel Fangio and won the race last weekend in Monaco and chassis 045.

"This year's Mille Miglia is very significant for Jaguar. It marks both the acceleration of the Jaguar Heritage Racing programme, a living celebration of our rich heritage, and also a true milestone in the brand's history of producing innovative technology: 60 years since Sir Stirling Moss scored the very first race win for a disc-braked car at Reims," said Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar brand director.
