Jeep is not revealing many details about the new SUV, but styling is clearly based on the larger, more luxurious Grand Cherokee. Exterior changes over the bigger truck include the squinting headlights, less vertical grill and slightly simpler exterior design.
The Cherokee will have a 45% fuel economy improvement over the Liberty, which indicates fuel economy of 23mpg city and 32mpg highway. Other than the fuel economy Jeep did not say anything about the mechanicals of the truck or release any pictures of its rear or interior.
The car will be publically unveiled at the New York Auto Show on March 29.
The Cherokee will be sold as a 2014 model and go on sale in the third quarter of the year. It will be built for North America in the historic Jeep plant in Toledo, Ohio.
