has just gone on sale in the US, but Europeans will have to wait until April for the first deliveries. European order books will open in just a few weeks for the Jetta Hybrid.
The Jetta Hybrid is powered by a 148hp 1.4 TSI engine with a 27hp electric, hybrid motor for a total system output of 168hp. The only transmission option is a seven-speed dual clutch transmission with power going to the front wheels. It uses 4.1l/100km of petrol, and while VW has not yet submitted the engine to check its emissions, it is estimating that it will be 95g/km of CO2. The system can be forced into pure EV mode at the press of a button and cover up to 2km.
Europe will get the car in two trim lines: Comfortline and Highline. Both models get a different radiator compared to other Jettas, LED tail lights, badges with blue backgrounds, special side sills, roof spoiler, different rear bumper and 15in wheels. The interior of both trims gets a DAB+ stereo, multifunction display, leather-trimmed steering wheel, automatic climate control and parking assistant.
The Highline trim adds bi-xenon headlights with LED running lights, fog lights, 17in wheels, Premium multifunction display and winter package.
Deliveries begin in mid April 2013 with prices starting at €31,300 in Germany, which includes 19% VAT, which means that starting prices without local taxes will be around €25,353.
