Kia will launch a new, second generation Kia Cee'd at the Geneva Motor Show in March. It is planning a marketing push to make the Cee'd a major competitor in the European C-segment.
It is possible to see the vestiges of the old Cee'd in the new car's evolution, but the new car looks more stylish and modern than the previous one ever did. Kia made the car longer, wider and lower but kept the same wheelbase. Kia wanted a coupe's silhouette in the body of a five-door so it used a steeply raked A-pillar, large side glass and low belt line. It has a low-sitting hood to give an aggressive look with wraparound headlights and LED running lights.
Inside, Kia is giving the Cee'd more upscale features. It has improved the switchgear, added a touchscreen and improved ergonomics. The control panel wraps around the driver to give an aircraft-inspired cockpit. More soft touch materials have been added, and there is more use of chrome trim.
Expect more details and pictures of the second generation Cee'd on March 6 during the Geneva show.
