. The brand's name combines the symbols 'Hor' for China and 'Ki' for driving.

The first car will be a four-door sedan that will look similar to the DYK concept shown at the Shanghai Motor Show. The brand will not sell its first car in China until the second half of 2015. Kia says that the production version will not be exactly like the concept. The cars will be built in Dongfeng's three factories north of Shanghai. It will be able to build 730,000 cars a year at full capacity.

Kia says that the Horki brand will be made up of an entire range of vehicles and include alternative power options. It plans to closely identify the Horki brand with itself, and the marketing will reflect that.

Kia first began its joint venture with Dongfeng in 2002. It sold 480,000 cars in China in 2012.
