with Driving Advisor technology that automatically keeps a car in its lane. The system does not activate if the turn signal is on. It will also signal a warning if it senses drivers do not have their hands on the steering wheels.

Lancia and researchers from University of Torino and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia followed 600 Delta drivers for nine months and had the drivers fill out five questionnaires to evaluate their feelings on the system.

Of the drivers surveyed, 90% said that the Driving Advisor technology makes them feel safer while driving, and 20% said that it improved their driving behavior.

Volvo found similar results when it examined this technology but with one major difference. Volvo's drivers also found that the system made them feel safer. However, Volvo went a step further to see if technology like Driving Advisor actually prevented accidents. It found there was no statistically significant decrease in collisions from this technology.
