at an event last night in San Francisco, California, and it kind of tricked us. A few weeks ago Lexus was marketing this car as a brand new LS, but as it turns out, the new LS is more of a refresh. It gets a new front, which looks great, and a mildly updated rear, but the middle is basically the same. The model lineup is the LS460Lexus LS 460Japan, 2013 > present6 photos

The biggest changes to the updated LS are the addition of the spindle grill up front. Lexus says it has also increased rigidity, a retuned suspension, sharper steering and all LED interior lighting. It has also added an automatic braking system that works below 24mph. The interior gets a new 12.3in navigation and infotainment screen.

Lexus has not updated the engines in any of the updated LS models, but it has added a new model - the F Sport. The LS460 F Sport has a more aggressive front end with Lexus' new 'L' monogram on the grill and fog light surrounds. The grill has larger air openings and is offered in an exclusive color - Ultra White. Inside, the F Sport gets sport bucket seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and a black Alcantara headliner. Mechanically, the F Sport gets a tuned version of the rear air suspension from the standard car, a limited-slip rear differential, Brembo six-piston brakes, 19in forged wheels.
