With seven rallies to go in the season, Sebastien Loeb won at the Acropolis Rally in Greece to extend his lead to 30 points in the championship.
Loeb won but was challenged by Jari-Matti Latvala from Ford who at one point was within a second of Loeb. Latvala had a puncture and brake damage that dropped him back down the order, and he finished in third.
Loeb also had a puncture but his lead was sufficient to keep him 40 seconds ahead of his teammate Mikko Hirvonen who came in second.
The Acropolis Rally had heavy attrition on the 18th special stage with top drivers Petter Solberg, Nasser Al-Attiyah, Evgeny Novikov and Daniel Oliveira all retiring.
Loeb also won the Power Stage and has 119 points in the the championship ahead of his teammate Hirvonen who has 89 points. The has a large lead in the constructors' championship with 184 points ahead of the Ford World Rally TeamFord Fiesta RS WRCUnited States of America, 2011 > 20113 photos
