The Grugliasco factory builds 280 cars a day and has built 8,200 Quattroportes since January 30. The Ghibli began production at the end of July, and the factory has already built 1,800 units and counting.

From January to September, Maserati has sold over twice as many cars as it had in its previous best year ever. Through September, Maserati has sold 22,500 cars. Its previous best sales year in its history is when it sold 9,000 cars in 2008. In 2012, it sold 6,300 cars for the entire year.

"Our investment is starting to pay off," said Maserati CEO Harald Wester,

The company has set a goal of building 50,000 cars a year by 2015.
