McLaren Celebrates Bruce McLaren's Legacy in Short Film

plans to celebrate its 50th anniversary for all of 2013. It has already announced that its factory teams in Formula 1 and GT racing will wear "McLaren 50" patches on their uniforms. It is also celebrating the brief life of its founder Bruce McLaren. 

In a video that it has just released called "McLaren 50 - Courage" that has McLaren explaing why he founded his own racing team in 1963. The video beatufifully shows McLaren from behind walking away from the crash that killed him at Goodwood in 1970 while testing the M8D Can-AmMcLaren M8DUnited Kingdom, 1970 > present1 photo
car. McLaren was only 32 years old. 

The video was directed by Marcus Söderlund who says that he was inspired by Frank Capra films.

This is just the first film in a trilogy of short films that McLaren will release through the rest of the year. 

The film is beautiful, poignant and respectful to McLaren's life. It is absolutely worth watching.
