says that it expects sales to double in Asia this year with plans to open eight dealers in the next 12 months. However, global sales are not expected to change much compared to 2012. The portion of sales from the Asian region is expected to increase from 10% in 2012 to 25% this year. However, sales will still be around 1,400 cars this year.

"This year, we will finally see sales from China. We are waiting for the official documents to start the company," Mirko Bordiga, director of McLaren in the Asian region.

The better Japanese economy is also expected to spur higher sales. The government has been weakening the yen to raise profits for companies that export goods, which has meant higher wages for workers and more disposable income.

The one worry is that China has discussed adding a 20% tax on goods that cost over 1.7 million Yuan ($278,000). If it goes through, it could harm sales of luxury items.
