McLaren MP4-12C pricing announced for UK and Europe

McLaren Automotive has unveiled the price of the MP4-12C, its first in a range of high-performance sports cars, for the UK and Europe. Arriving to the market in spring 2011 the MP4-12C will be sold in the UK at £168,500 and from €200,000 in the EU.

Antony Sheriff, Managing Director of McLaren Automotive said: “When we embarked on this challenge to design, develop, build, sell, and service the world’s most exciting and high-quality high-performance sports cars - from a brand new factory at our Formula One headquarters - we knew expectations would be high.”

The MP4-12C will be offered with a wide range of customization options, with prices yet to be confirmed. Seventeen high-grade exterior paint finishes will be available, including ‘McLaren Orange’, a color that became famous by the McLaren racing cars of the 1960s and the 70s.

Inside customers will be able to choose between 14 interior trims. Performance upgrades include a sports exhaust system, carbon ceramic brake discs, polished-finish callipers and two lightweight forged wheel options. Although the ‘standard’ 12C will only feature one piece of carbon – the MonoCell – McLaren will also offer carbon fibre options, including mirror casings, engine bay panels and engine cover.

McLaren expects to build 1,000 12Cs in the car’s first full year. Designed , engineered, developed and manufactured by a team featuring extensive experience in McLaren’s racing successes, the MP4-12C will be built at the McLaren Production Centre (MPC), a £40m manufacturing plant that is currently under construction and will be fully operational by the middle of 2011.

The McLaren MP4-12C will be initially available in a network of 35 retailers, which will represent McLaren across 19 countries worldwide.
