The third model in the lineup is being called the P13 internally, and McLaren says that it is aiming for a price of about £120,000, which is in line with a 911 TurboPorsche 911 TurboGermany, 2013 > present.
It will use the same concepts that underpin the more expensive models, including a carbon fiber monocoque and a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8. However, it will be detuned to closer to 450hp in the P13 from 616hp in the 12C or 727hp in the P1. Styling will be more like the P1 than the 12C with wraparound headlights and two large hood vents. The wheelbase will be the shortest in the McLaren range, which may make the P13 a handling champ.
It will be very interesting to see how the P13 stacks up against the 911 Turbo. The 12C is already nearly 200kg lighter than a 911 Turbo, and the smaller, lighter P13 will cut that even more. However, the base 911 Turbo offers 520hp, and the 911 Turbo SPorsche 911 Turbo SGermany, 2013 > present has 560hp. It also has all-wheel drive. It will be a battle between low weight from the P13 and more power and more grip from the 911.
McLaren has promised a new model or variant every year. In 2011, it had the 12C; 2012 saw the 12C SpiderMcLaren MP4-12C SpiderUnited Kingdom, 2012 > present10 photos
