McLaren Planning to Stick with Mercedes Engines

McLaren's deal with Mercedes for engines for its Formula 1 team expires in 2015, and there have been rumors that the team is shopping around for a new engine supplier. Rumors even circulated that McLaren was talking to Honda to bring them back into the sport. However, at least for now, McClaren will stick with Mercedes power.

There had also been rumors that McLaren could move to the Pure Engine Company, which is located in the same town as McLaren. Pure was founded by Craig Pollock, the former head of the BAR Honda Formula 1 team, and he was also Jacques Villeneuve manager. Pure is planning to build future V6 turbo engines and is looking for customer teams.

"We are very happy with and enjoying our partnership with Mercedes-Benz. We are entirely focused on our Mercedes-Benz relationship. It is a long one spanning many wins and championships and long may it continue," said McLaren's managing director Jonathan Neale.
